Dr Penny Sutcliffe

Dr Sutciffe is a GP trainer and an Oxford University tutor. Particular interests: Family Planning, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes. Based at Hughenden Valley Surgery.

Dr Anthony Gallagher

MBBS, MRCGP, LL.Dip, BPTC, London 1996

Initially training as a surgeon, Dr Gallagher went on to specialise in Emergency and Acute Medicine after leaving the Royal Navy 1997. He has worked as a GP since 2006 and was called to the Bar in 2010. Dr Gallagher is a GP trainer and an Oxford University tutor. Particular interests: Men's Health, Musculoskeletal Pathology and Minor Surgery although he has a wide surgical and medical expertise. He also has a special interest in Medical Ethics and expertise in Medicolegal Law. Based at Hughenden Valley Surgery.

Dr Shaheen Jinah

MBBS,London (1995) BSC MRCGP,DRCOG, DCH DFFP

Dr Jinah fits coils that need prior assessment and does some joint injections. Particular interests: Family Planning, Women's Health, Minor Surgery, Paediatrics. Based at Chequers Surgery.

Dr Rachel Amess

BSc, MB BS, DRCOG, MRCGP (1998), DFFP

Dr Amess is a local Buckinghamshire girl born and bred and she completed her GP training scheme based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1998. Dr Amess also works as an In-Reach GP for the Frailty Team at Wexham Park hospital. Particular Interests:Women’s health, Care of the Elderly and Palliative Care. Based at Chequers Surgery.

Dr Sarah Avery

MBBS (Hons), MRCGP

Dr Avery trained in anaesthetics, pain medicine, and intensive care before returning home to Buckinghamshire to complete her GP training. Particular interests:Pain Management, Lifestyle Medicine and Paediatrics. Based at Chequers Surgery.

Dr Waseem Kayani

BMBS, BMedSci (hons)

Dr Kayani Graduated from the University of Southampton in 2014. After which he returned home to Buckinghamshire to train and work in General Practice. Particular Interests: Mental Health, Care of the Elderly, General Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Based at Hughenden Valley Surgery.

Our nurses are available for family planning, dressings, travel vaccinations, ECGs, blood pressure, asthma checks, diabetic checks, Coronary Heart Disease checks and general health check-ups. There specialised areas are detailed below:

Lynne Bradshaw

RGN, PgD in Dermatology Skills & Treatment, Nurse Prescriber. Extra training modules in Contraception and travel.

I am a Nurse Prescriber and can consult patients with a minor illness. I am a General Practice nurse with an interest in dermatology including skin lesions and minor skin operations. I hold clinics for cryotherapy and also baby immunisations at Prestwood Surgery.

Fran Goss

RGN, Diploma's in asthma, COPD and spirometry, Certificate in Diabetes care.

Specialist respiratory nurse and Trained and fully competent in travel health. I am a General Practice Nurse with a keen interest in respiratory conditions and travel health. I hold clinics in Asthma, COPD, Spirometry and Travel Health.

Paula Rock

Nurse and Ex-Midwife Paula has extra training in ear syringing, dressings and ECG’s.

RGN, Certificate in Palliative Care.

I am a General Practice Nurse with a keen interest in palliative care. Trained and fully competent in travel health. I hold travel clinics and also baby immunisations clinics.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. The reception team comprises Catherine (Hughenden Valley Surgeries), Sally (Deputy Reception Manager - Hughenden Valley Surgeries), Maureen (Hughenden Valley Surgeries), Sarah (Hughenden Valley Surgeries)

Community Midwives

We have a team of midwives attached to each of the surgeries. Care in pregnancy is provided by the practice in conjunction with the local Consultant Obstetricians and our local Midwives. Antenatal care will be carried out in the surgery during normal surgery or Ante-natal Clinic hours. (Please tell the Receptionist it is an ante-natal appointment as some may need extra time.)

Community Nurses

We have a team of district nurses assigned to both surgeries. They provide specialised nursing support for house bound patients with nursing needs.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. As part of the Healthy Child Programme, the health visitor will be offering an antenatal contact between 28 and 36 weeks either in a group session or as an individual. Also your child will be offered a health review at 8-12 months and again at 2 years. Well Baby Clinics are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at The Oakshott Centre, Naphill and Chequers Surgery, Prestwood every Monday 13:30 – 15:00. Child Immunisations are arranged centrally by Community Services and appointments will be received in the post accordingly.
